Holidays in Slapton

Visit Slapton Sands, a beautiful shingle beach just ‘across the road’ from Slapton Ley Nature Reserve. Once the location for the rehearsals of the D-Day landings, ‘Operation Tiger’, this stretch of shore is rich in history. Today, this stunning dog-friendly beach is the hub of family holidays, ideal for skimming pebbles in the sea.

From the beach, you can walk the South West Coast Path towards Beesands, Hallsands, and if you’re feeling up for a challenge, Dartmouth in the other direction – the breathtaking views will definitely be worth it!

If you love nature, the Slapton Nature Reserve (the largest freshwater lake in the South West) is a must-visit destination for bird watching, and you might even spot otters. If you’re holidaying with kids, enjoy a stroll around the lake towards Torcross, where you can feed the ducks. Food for the ducks can be purchased from the nearby village shop.

When you want a cosy, hearty meal, The Tower Inn is the perfect place to visit. Popular amongst locals and holidaymakers alike, this warming pub is the ideal place to indulge in delicious food after a blustery walk.
