Devon is the only county in England with two distinct coastlines, and it has some of the most incredible beaches in the country. From wide stretches of soft sand to secluded rocky coves, there’s a beach to suit everyone. If you have children why not head to South Sands or Blackpool Sands both Blue Flag awarded beaches ensuring litter free shorelines, good quality facilities and a high standard of water quality. Alternatively if you are bringing your pet on holiday there are a range of dog friendly beaches that are available all year including Beesands, Torcross, North Sands and Thurlestone.

The scrumptious Salcombe spider crab has recently been celebrated due to the remarkable size and sweeter flavour, come and sample the delicious crab meat caught daily from the local waters.

Devon has a long and proud maritime history and is home to some of the finest sailing in the world. If you’re a landlubber who wants to get their sea legs you’ll find several RYA-accredited schools to help you on your way to becoming a salty sea dog.

One of our favourite places to sail is Salcombe in South Devon. Offering courses for beginners, trips for families or boats to rent out for the more experienced sailor.

If you want to indulge in some angling you’ll find it all in South Devon, from easy crabbing in the Dart estuary to exciting sport fishing out in the coastal waters. In land you’ll also find plenty of coarse fishing lakes.

Sometimes we all just need to get away from it all. As one of the nation’s most rural areas Devon has plenty of peace and quiet making it an idyllic place to relax and take in the scenery. Just going for a stroll through woodlands or picking your way along the South West Coast Path will bring a sense of calm and tranquility.

One of the best things about Devon is the incredible views you’ll find at every turn. Sparkling blue sea, lush fields, chocolate box thatched roof cottages, wild moorland. Everywhere you look there’s a view to be savoured.
