The inaugural Salcombe Crab Festival (Crabfest) first took place in 2016, with over 40 local exhibitors attending the event. Now in its ninth year, Salcombe Crabfest draws visitors from far and wide to watch chef demonstrations, enjoy crab-tivating activities, listen to live music and more.
This year, expect a fantastic lineup of highly acclaimed chefs, with past events including Matt Tebbutt, Mitch Tonks, Jane Baxter and many more. This foodie festival has become a highlight event in the Devon calendar and has raised over £60,000 for local charities since it started.

As you’d expect, sailing features heavily in the Salcombe annual calendar, given the town’s reputation as a thriving centre of all things nautical. The first big sailing occasion of the year, the Merlin Rocket Week is a dinghy sailing and social event, run by the Salcombe Yacht Club.
The sailing starts at 10:30am and 2:30pm, and you can enjoy live music from local artists including The Busketeers, entertainment from Byng’s Bingo and more. Get updates from Salcombe Yacht Club on their official website.
Sponsored by Salcombe Gin, the Salcombe Yacht Club Regatta is a five-day long sailing event with daily races and social events. Visit the Salcombe Yacht Club website for finer details regarding individual events and festivities.
The Salcombe Town Regatta is one of the biggest annual events in South Devon, running for a whole week and attracting enthusiastic crowds of holidaymakers and locals alike. As well as a host of sailing-related events, you’ll find rowing and raft races, the famous harbour swim, a fun run, a dog show and much more filling the event line-up.
A favourite amongst families, the crab-catching competition is very popular. If you’d like to book a holiday in Salcombe during the Regatta, we advise arranging your accommodation as early as possible, as this is an exceptionally popular week.

Hope Cove Weekend is an annual, family-friendly event not to be missed. Over the whole weekend, you can expect some much-loved beach activities including sea fishing, sandcastle competitions, beach yoga, sailing races, tug of war, and more.
There will be a range of food and beverage stalls as well as artisan stalls to peruse. You can also expect to watch fireworks and take part in some country dancing. With most activities over the weekend being free of charge, it’s worth exploring on your Salcombe holiday.

One of the first triathlons to take place in this iconic seaside town, the Salcombe Brewery Sprint Triathlon will put participants’ endurance to the test as they swim, cycle, and run through Salcombe, Hope Cove, and Galmpton.
Starting from North Sands, participants will swim for 700m in the bay before cycling the bike course which has several undulations through the South Hams countryside. Then, they’ll finish off with a run back to the starting point.

Salcombe Live made its debut in 2019 and was a huge success. Enjoyed by both locals and visitors alike, the festival is held in several venues throughout the town. The three-day festival welcomes a collection of live acoustic performances, folk and Americana music, jazz and blues, stand-up comedy and much more.
