“The property was beautiful and so central for the town.”

The garden was perfect for the dogs. The only comment I would make would be to have an airer for clothes as not everyone likes to dry all clothes in a tumble drier. We will definitely stay there again

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Mayflower. Great idea for a clothes airer. Thank you! We will put one in. Looking forward to seeing you back again. Property Owner

The property

Resting in an ideal location on the outskirts of the harbourside town of Salcombe in Devon is 9 Coronation Road.

Perfect for families, couples or friends, this pet-friendly, mid-terraced property boasts an enclosed garden, zip/link beds for flexibility, and is just moments away from the amenities and bustle of the town centre.

A sought-after parking space greets you on arrival, before making your way into the home to find an inviting sitting room with a corner sofa, perfect for a cup of tea and a film on the Smart TV to unwind.

Move through the open-plan space, where you can do all your cooking and dining, and in the warmer months, allow the outdoors in with the bi-fold doors opening up the space further.

Off this space is a utility and cloakroom, so you can keep your clothes and towels fresh throughout your trip, and outside you can find an additional hot and cold open air shower.

The garden makes a wonderful space for relaxing, with ample seating for dining alfresco, soaking up the sun, or even just enjoying your book.

When sleep calls, three bedrooms rest over the first and second floors; the first floor is home to a double and a zip/link super-king-size, serviced by a family bathroom, while the second floor hosts the master, with another zip/link super-king-size with a quaint en-suite bathroom.

When you’re refreshed and ready to explore, head into the town centre for a walk along the waterfront, or you can even join onto the South West Coastal Path.

There are plenty of pubs, restaurants and cafés to choose from, or if you prefer your home-cooked goodies, you can stop at one of many shops.

There are plenty of picture-perfect beaches in the area, such as East Portlemouth beach, just across the water, or you can wander the National Trust’s Overbecks Garden for a lovely afternoon.

The South Devon Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty has a number of delightful walking and cycling trails, both on the shores and inland, so you won’t be short of outdoor activities.

Alternatively, you can venture further afield and discover some of the area’s charming towns and villages, such as Totnes and Dartmouth.

A seaside break to remember, choose Mayflower, 9 Coronation Road.

The parking space is suitable for a medium sized car.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

SALCOMBE

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
For those that love getting active, what better way to explore Slad than on one of the many walkways, one of which is through the Laurie Lee Wood, recently opened by his widow and daughter spreads over three hectares. The Laurie Lee Wildlife Way is a beautiful 5-mile walking route, punctuated with ten poetry posts featuring the works of Lee, whose poems bring the surrounding landscape to life.

Three miles outside of Slad is the market town of Stroud. Labelled as the ‘Covent Garden’ of the Cotswolds, Stroud is a town in which you will find an eclectic mix of shops selling everything from fossils to fairies. As well as the town itself being a hub of culture and interest, a trip to London from Stroud will take just 90 minutes.

Note: The second flight of stairs up to the master bedroom are steep and winding. Those with limited mobility may find access difficult.

The shower ceiling in the en suite on the top floor is sloping due to the eaves - please call for more information.
